Target’s Upcoming Fashion Collaboration Boasts an “Epic Plaid Takeover”


Plaid shirts, plaid bags, even plaid Band-Aids—that’s what you can expect from Target’s latest collaboration with Adam Lippes, which was announced in a press release just this morning. The American designer will create a 50-piece collection rendered entirely in the pattern that will hit stores this fall, encompassing everything from clothes to beauty supplies to pet accessories. Target is calling it, aptly, an “epic plaid takeover.”

The tartan pattern is a departure from Lippes’ own Fall 2015 collection, which featured a colorful floral photoprint inspired by the work of Philip-Lorca diCorcia, though the designer did include several plaid pieces in his Fall 2014 showing. From Target’s point of view, it’s an easy win—the check print will translate well on a mass-market scale and Lippes is a fashion insider favorite (even if he isn’t widely recognized outside of fashion circles).
